CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature)
Covers material published since 1982 in over 1,200 nursing and allied health periodicals. Provides access to virtually all English and some foreign language nursing and allied health journals, publications from the American Nurses' Association (ANA), the National League for Nursing (NLN), doctoral dissertations, selected nursing books, educational software, and audiovisuals. Contains some full text articles. A first source for locating articles on nursing and allied health topics periodical articles. Updated weekly.
Pre-CINAHL
A companion database to CINAHL, Pre-CINAHL is intended to provide current awareness of new journal articles, and includes a rotating file of limited bibliographic information (no subject searching), which are available to researchers only for the time when these articles are being assigned additional indexing. Once the bibliographic records are complete, they are added to the CINAHL databases and removed from Pre-CINAHL.

Covers health information in over 500 nursing and allied health journals published since 1975. Many articles in full text, but covers fewer journal titles than CINAHL. Updated daily.
IngentaConnect
Indexes recent articles appearing in over 28,000 multi-disciplinary periodicals published since fall, 1988. Covers a core of nursing titles, although not as many as CINAHL. A valuable index for finding very recent articles, and locating information on nursing topics from a wide range of multi-disciplinary periodicals such as sociology and psychology. Excellent index for nutrition topics. Scans terms from table-of-contents of each journal issue. Subject headings or descriptors are not assigned to articles. So you need to use as many synonyms of a term that you can think of, e.g., (teenagers or youth or adolescents). For maximum results, search both the Electronic Content and Fax/Ariel Content sections of this database. Updated within 24 hours of receipt of journal issue.
MEDLINE
Primary resource for articles from over 4,600 biomedical periodicals in all languages. Covers articles published since 1966. Includes all areas of clinical and experimental medicine, nursing, health administration, and the health care system. Excellent source for locating information on the medical aspect of diseases, surgical and clinical procedures, and medications. Updated weekly.
