This course guide, tailored specifically for Professor Muthyala's Globalization course (English 399), pulls together many sources of information. It includes a strategy for finding current articles (see Resources by Subject), books (URSUS), reserve readings, and much more. Bottom line: if you look only in Google you are probably missing a lot.
To search the library from home, an office, etc. you will need a USM ID card...you will be asked to type in your last name and bar code number (which begins with 25022...).
Sometimes the USM Libraries will not have the books or articles you need. When this happens you should use the Inter Library Loan Department because they can get you practically anything the library doesn't own. It generally takes the library 2-3 days to get articles from elsewhere and 5-7 days for books.
Reference Sources generally give you a short overview of a topic, useful statistics, often some history, and more. They are an excellent place to start research on ANY topic new to you. Here are a few that you may find useful:

These are places to find current articles. Remember, to link to these you'll need the bar code number on your USM ID card. If the library does not subscribe to a journal you need they will get it for you and you'll receive the article as an e-mail attachment. Magic! If you've not done this before...it's easy...follow directions here or ask a librarian how it's done.
Professor Muthyala may want you looking in some specific journals, like the International Journal Of Cultural Studies (Online) or Boundary 2 (Online). To look at these you'll need to type in your last name and bar code number (25022...) from your USM picture ID card (if you are off campus...no bar code needed on campus).
