Purpose of award
To acknowledge individuals who have been catalysts for change regarding diversity, equality, human and civil rights in Maine, particularly (but not exclusively) as it relates to the Sampson Collection populations (African American; Jewish; and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender).
To commemorate the life, work, and values of Jean Byers Sampson.
Eligibility
Maine residents who have contributed to positive change in Maine toward diversity, equality, human and civil rights.
Ineligibility
Current members of Sampson Center Steering Committee or the Sampson collections advisory boards.
Application deadline : Applications
for the 2010 award must be submitted or received
by January 31, 2010.
