Rosalyne E. Bernstein Papers
Rosalyne Bernstein, a member of a prominent southern Maine Jewish family, was extensively involved in community service both within and without the Jewish community. The Papers document her education, her work in the community, particularly in the fields of education, public health and social services, her activity in the local Jewish community, and her interest in Israel-Arab relations. 1945-2002 3.5 ft.
Sumner T. Bernstein Papers
A lawyer who helped establish the firm Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson, member of a prominent Jewish family, Bernstein was very active in the civic life of Portland and the state. The Papers document his civic work and personal life. Of particular value are 25 folders of family correspondence dating from 1940 to 1945 and covering Bernstein's service in World War II. 1934-2002 4 ft.
