Creating a literature review theme

You have conducted a comprehensive search and collection of scholarly works on your topic. What next?

The first step is to evaluate the works you have collected. In evaluating each work consider:

  • Source Strength
  • Author Strength
  • Objectivity
  • Value

Fear Not!

In this stage of your education or knowledge of your topic your confidence may be limited. Thus it may be difficult to evaluate your works; view this as a learning opportunity.

You are likely to have more critical analysis skills that you realize. And you probably already have the ability to identify inconsistencies, contradictions, and biases in articles. By reading multiple works you quickly will gain more ability to spot obvious strengths and weaknesses .
